Quick Share for Windows

Send files between your phone and Windows PC. Choose your browser or the Microsoft Store app.

  • No signup
  • End-to-end encrypted
  • No server uploads

LAN Transfer needs the same local network. Files stay between your devices.

Microsoft instructions

Our website and Store app are independent of Google Quick Share. For browser transfers, open LAN Transfer on both devices.

Quick Share for Windows compatibility

The web version works through your browser. Native app requirements are listed in Microsoft Store.

Windows 11
Use current Edge, Chrome or Firefox with WebRTC and Web Crypto enabled.
Windows 10
Use a compatible, up-to-date browser. Check the Store listing before installing the desktop app.
Windows 7
Not supported. Older browsers may lack the encryption and connection features needed for transfers.
Phone browsers
Use Chrome on Android or Safari on iPhone. Keep both transfer tabs open and devices awake.

Internet access loads the page and connects devices; file contents travel locally. Google’s separate app has its own Windows requirements.

Android to Windows

Join the same Wi-Fi on your phone and PC. Ethernet also works when connected to the same local network.

  1. Select files on Android

Open quick-share.app/transfer/lan on both devices. On Android, choose the photos, videos or documents to send.

  2. Wait for your PC to appear

Find your Windows device in the nearby list. Match its name and short ID with the PC browser.

  3. Send to Windows

Select the PC and tap Send Files. Leave both tabs open until the transfer finishes.

  4. Receive on your PC

The PC automatically receives the files and starts downloads. Allow site downloads if prompted, then check your download folder.

To send back, choose files on Windows and select your phone.

iPhone to Windows

Use Safari and your PC browser. No phone app or AirDrop is needed.

  1. Join the same Wi-Fi and open LAN Transfer on iPhone and Windows.
  2. Choose photos from your library or documents from Files.
  3. Select the matching Windows device and tap Send Files.
  4. Keep Safari open and iPhone awake. The PC receives the files automatically; allow downloads if asked.

Quick Share not working?

Can’t find your PC, or a transfer stalls? Try these fixes.

Different networks
Join the same LAN; avoid isolated guest Wi-Fi, or use your phone’s hotspot.
Firewall blocks WebRTC
Allow local peer-to-peer browser traffic on trusted networks; ask your administrator on managed PCs.
Browser permissions
Allow local network access and site downloads when prompted, then reopen both tabs.
VPN or proxy
If permitted, enable local-network bypass or pause the VPN and reconnect.
Device asleep or tab suspended
Wake both devices, keep tabs in the foreground and restart the interrupted transfer.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install Quick Share for Windows?

No. The web version works in a compatible browser. The Microsoft Store app is optional.

Is Quick Share for Windows free?

Browser LAN transfers are free, with no account or subscription. Cloud Transfer has separate plans; check Store pricing for the app.

Is there a file size limit?

No configured LAN cap, but memory and storage matter. Receiving browsers buffer files in memory, so very large transfers may fail.

Do both devices have to be on the same Wi-Fi?

Yes, the same local network. A wired PC on the same router can work; guest networks may block device discovery.

Does my Android phone or iPhone need an app?

No. Open LAN Transfer in Chrome on Android or Safari on iPhone, and keep both pages open.

Does Quick Share support Windows 7?

No supported Windows 7 path. Use Windows 10 or 11 with a current compatible browser; check Store requirements for the app.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

LAN file contents move directly through encrypted WebRTC. Servers exchange connection metadata. Cloud Transfer is different and uploads encrypted files.

How many devices can I send to at once?

One recipient per browser transfer session. Select multiple files for that recipient, then repeat for another device.
